LAKE JASNA
You definitely should not miss Lake Jasna, which is about a 30-minute walk from the Modern Flat Apartment. Lake Jasna is an artificial lake and lies at a beautiful point where you can observe the beauty of the Julian Alps. Here you will be able to take a photo of the famous Goldhorn or chamois guarding the lake or take a photo next to Kosobrin. In summer, bathers are invited by the piers and a six-meter high viewing platform, which offers a beautiful view of the lake and the Julian Alps. Ice cream and refreshments are served by the lake in the summer.
In 2015, Lake Jasna was renovated and slightly changed its appearance, which is also the reason for the increased popularity among tourists. New features include new beach areas, a new bar and a three-level wooden diving platform. Lake Jasna now offers not only a place for a walk, but also a relaxed lounging on the beach and swimming with a beautiful view. If you prefer to enjoy the wilder beach, you can find your spot by the lake Pišnica.
MANGART LAKES
Mangart lakes, also called Belopeška lakes or Laghi di Fusine, are a very popular excursion point, located just behind the Italian border. You can also get to the Mangart lakes from Kranjska Gora by bike, and there is a well-kept bike path leading there, complemented by the most beautiful views of the surrounding hills. The bike path will lead you from Kranjska gora through the former border crossing in Rateče to the Belopeška lakes. Due to the distance from the main road, cycling is very safe. The trail is suitable for a trip with children of different ages. It will take you past well-kept playgrounds and refreshment bars, Podkorena, Planica and the Zelenci nature reserve, which can be a wonderful stopover.
MARTULJEK FALLS
For nature lovers, we suggest visiting the waterfalls, the path to them is for both experienced and not too experienced hikers. Below the Špik mountain you will find two waterfalls, pearls of the Slovenian alpine world.
Martuljek waterfalls can be reached on foot by hikers from the Modern flat apartment, but of course you can simplify your route and drive part of the way by car. The path to the waterfall itself is quite easy, but don’t forget the appropriate equipment. The upper Martuljek waterfall descends gradually and is 110 meters high. The lower Martuljek waterfall falls over a 50 meter high wall into the limestone Martuljek gorge. We recommend visiting both waterfalls during late spring. At that time, due to melting snow, the flow of waterfalls is the strongest. In addition to a wonderful trip, you will find excellent home-made food in a log cabin near Ingot, which will give the trip its own ennchanting stamp.
PERIČNIK WATERFALL
Peričnik Waterfall is about a 25-minute drive from the Modern Flat Apartments. In fact, two waterfalls (upper and lower) are known as Rinka Waterfall. The lower waterfall is more easily accessible, you can also walk behind the waterfall. Its height is 52 meters. Access to the upper waterfall is more demanding but still very nice, its height is only 16 meters.
ZELENCI NATURE RESERVE
The journey from the Modern Flat apartment to Zelenci takes about 50 minutes one way. Zelenci is the ground source of the river Sava Dolinka and is a very popular excursion point for photography due to the beautiful emerald color of the lake, so don’t forget your camera. Several rare and endangered plant and animal species have found a home in and along the Lake Zelenci. Interesting are carnivorous sundews, and from animals various amphibians and several species of birds. The swamp with the bog is about 1200 meters long, 150 meters wide on average. The pond does not freeze in winter. You can walk to the lake and on the swamp on a wooden footbridge, and you will also find a lookout tower.

Kekčeva domačija, hidden to the modern world, is located in the magical embrace of the mountains, home of Kekec, Pehta, Mojca, Tinkara and Brincelj and Rožle. A secret forest maze that children will be happy to explore is an adventure for the whole family. Across the meadows next to the Bedančev dom hut, children will be able to explore a magical labyrinth and come across a rabbit, a fox or even a wild rooster hiding in the treetops.
A guaranteed entertainment for the whole family is a visit to Bedančev dom. It is located at the top of the Vitranc chairlift and offers a beautiful view of Podkoren and Kranjska Gora. You can also go to the Vitranc Thematic Trail, which shows the development of ski resorts and ski tourism throughout history.
For a trip with children, we especially suggest a visit to the theme-orientation park, where you follow the markings on the trees and thus discover the heroes of Kekec’s land. The park has five theme points. At each point, one of the heroes is presented: Kekec, Bedanec, Mojca, Pehta and Rožle.
Your task and the task of your children is to find all five heroes from the starting point at Bedančev dom. At the end of the trail, you can reward yourself with ice cream and refreshing drinks.
Definitely you shouldn’t miss the Playground land, which offers entertainment for all ages. Children will be able to battle underneth the fangs of a humongus bear, they will be able to lock themselves in Kosobrin’s cage or train their abilities in a mini adrenaline park.
You can go down the 1,500-meter sledding ground even when there is no snow. On the summer sledding ground you will reach a speed of up to 40 km / h with the sleds, and the entire ride takes about 5 minutes. Fun for adults and children guaranteed!
